Web-Based Data Management

The CPTU uses web-based systems for clinical data management. Generally we develop our own systems as we believe this gives us greater flexibility to deliver systems which meet our users requirements. Our systems are thoroughly tested before release to ensure they are fit for purpose. and supported developed by CPTU Applications are accessed via a Citrix web portal, this provides a very high level of data security.

System Features

Systems developed by CPTU can offer the following features:

  • Online screening and randomisation
  • Secure patient date management
  • Online clinical data collection and management
  • Online tools for managing study centre and staff information
  • Realtime reporting, for example current recruitment
  • Saftey reporting
  • Full audit trails

Security

We take data security seriously. All of our web-based systems can only be accessed via our secure citrix portal using a provided username, password and PIN number. Once a user is signed in they are only allowed to view the patient and clinical information relevant to them.

Clinical and patient identifiable data are kept on physically seperate Oracle 11g database servers. All patient identifiable data is encrypted. The databases are regularly backed up to ensure data are safeguarded from accidental loss

Technologies

Our systems are generally developed using Java and Oracle technologies.
